A family story

In 1962, Marie and Georges DAVIET, both born in the Haute-Savoie, start working on their own farm in the village of “La Caille” near La Balme de Sillingy where they rear calves, pigs and poultry.

In 1967, a fire destroys the family property and puts an end to the modernization project for the farm.

In 1968, the family rebuilds the house and establishes a new farm. At the same time, some families ask if they may install their tents on the farmland for a few days, to spend a holiday. As Marie and Georges Daviet enjoy these contacts and exchanges, they decide to turn to tourism and open 2 rural lodges and the first French farm campsite with 6 pitches. But very soon, the camping site becomes too small!

As the number of tourists’ requests grows, they transform their camping site into a close-to-nature campsite offering 25 pitches.

In 1979, their 3 children, François, Jean-Paul and Marie-Claude decide to continue focusing on tourism. To answer new needs, they transform their farm into a rural inn.

Another building is erected to go on rearing pigs and rabbits.

Soon the whole family is working on the Domaine de La Caille.

In 1989 and 1990, after their parents’ death, the children temporarily stop operating the farm and create 7 hotel bedrooms instead.

Year after year, tourism develops: customers grow in number and the rural inn becomes a countryside inn.

In 2001, the Domain is so successful that it adds 12 chalets, a swimming- pool and recreation areas, all acclaimed by the tourists.

Today, Marie-Claude and Jean-Paul are happy to welcome you to their 5 acres of landscaped grounds, near 3 lakes and their surrounding mountains, at the foot of the Mandallaz hill.
